Sunyani Nursing Training College Library – The College Library
The Library started from a small room (one of the College’s offices). In 2007, it was relocated to where the current IT/Midwifery skills lab is. It had a seating capacity of 48 with four bookshelves, one reference shelf, one computer, one printer, one photocopier and 366 volumes of books.
A year later, five additional computers with Internet access were being added to be used in conjunction with the library.
During the subsequent years; until the year 2014, ten additional computers, together with three tables and eight chairs were added. Students became more interested in the library (with a few computers with internet access) in those days, which led to more computers and books been added.
With a new IT tutor, the computers were separated from the library. But, the library was still in smooth operation with more books and magazines.
In the year 2014, the College had a new principal who also came with new ideas and inventions. The Library was once again relocated to a bigger place or room with more books, tables and chairs. The seating capacity was now 61.
In the year 2015, the Library was once more relocated to a newly built library complex (where it is currently located) with washrooms for both students and staff. It’s also has 150 – 160 seating capacity, to which 97 is in use at the moment. Now the library has eight bookshelves, one reference shelf, a photocopier, a printer, a computer and 3200 volumes of books.
Finally, the library has two staff, a library prefect and a library committee. It opens from 8:00 Am to 8:00 Pm on every working day.
