The Continuous Assessment component consists of take home assignment, class quizzes and tests, term papers, and project work. This component give students the chance to demonstrate their abilities on a wider variety of learning tasks and a broader variety of work environments than is possible under formal examination conditions. For example, through Continuous Assessment students can learn the values and processes of team work, plan and solve real-life problems.

Duration of End-of-Semester Examination

The duration of end-of-semester examination is determined by the credit weighting of the course; than pattern is as follows:

One-Credit Course1 – 1.5 hours
Two-Credit Course1.5 – 2 hours
Three-Credit Course2 – 3 hours

Grading Scale

The University uses letter grades and numerical weightings corresponding to the letter grades. The numerical weightings reflect the quality of performance. Total numerical weightings reflect the quality of performance. Total raw scroes ( combination of continuous assessment and end-of-semester examination) are converted according to the following scheme:

80 – 100A4.0Excellent
75 – 79B+3.5Very Good
70 – 74B3.0Good
65 – 69C+2.5Average
60 – 64C2.0Fair
55 -59D+1.5Barely Satisfactory
50 – 54D1.0Weak Pass
Below 50E0Fail

Degree Classifications

Undergraduate degrees are classified according to the candidate’s Cumulative Grade Average (C.G.P.A). The Degree Classification are as follows:

FIRST CLASS3.6 – 4.0
PASS1.0 – 1.9
FAIL< 1.0

Requirements for Graduation

Candidates for a degree must satisfy the following requirements:

  1. Pass all compulsory core courses – general, faculty, or departmental compulsory core courses;
  2. Meet Inter-faculty course requirements;
  3. Accumulate a minimum of 120 credits (Including Advanced Credits);
  4. Attain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (C.G.P.A) of 1.0;
  5. Settle all financial and other obligation to the University;
  6. The student should be in good standing, not barred for disciplinary reasons.

Time Limits for the Completion of Programmes

The time limits for the completion of programmes are as follows:

  1. Four-year programme: Minimum of 4 years, maximum 5 years;
  2. Three-year programme: Minimum of 3 years, maximum 4 years;
  3. Two-year programme: Minimum of 2 years, maximum of 3 years.

A student who is unable to complete a degree programme within time limit would be withrawn by the University. The University reserves the right to make curricula changes (add and/or delete courses) and require the student to meet the new course requirements but as a rule, the student will be required to follow the curriculum in force at the time he/she was admitted to the University.

Deferment of Programme

  • Students who due to various reasons wish to defer their programmes should first consult their Academic Department Counselors for advice before.
  • A student may apply for deferment of study provided that the student complete the entire programme within tje stipulated time limit.
  • Deferment maybe granted for a maximum of two semesters within the entire duration of programme.
  • With the exception of severe and sudden medical conditions, an application for the deferment of study must be made and approved before the beginning of the semester. Emergency cases will be dealt with on their own merit.
  • All applications of deferment of programmes shall be addressed to the Deputy Registrar (Academic) and sent through the relevant Head of Department who shall provide his/her comment on the application.

Withdrawal/Dismissal from the University 

A Student may voluntary withdraw from the University or may be officially dismissed/withdrawn from the Univesity for academic and non-academic reasons.

Voluntary Withdrawal: A student who withdraws voluntarily from a programme may re-apply for admission at a later date.

A Student may be dissmissed or rusticated for academic and non-academic reasons. A student who has dismmised will not be considered for re-admission at a later date.



Transcript shall reflect advance credits, all courses taken or attempted by the student ( including audited courses), and the grades earned. Under no circumstances will grades earned in a course be deleted from a student’s transcript.
