The Bachelor of Arts Business Studies, Accounting programme provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to work in the Accounting field in the areas of accounting, bookkeeping, auditing and financial management.

The degree also provides a solid foundation for postgraduate study or further qualification with professional bodies e.g. Institute of Chartered Accountants, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Chartered Institute of Taxation.

Teaching methods: A variety of methods of instruction are used, including lectures and discussion, case studies and small group work. Assessment is through assignments, projects and exams.

Accreditation/Affiliation: The BA Business Studies, Accounting programme is affiliated to the University of Cape Coast. All degree courses are accredited by Ghana’s National Accreditation Board (NAB).

Entry requirements:


Candidates must have six credits (A1-C6) in English, Mathematics and Integrated Science (Biology or Agricultural Science for Nigerian applicants) or Social Studies, and three elective subjects, making an aggregate of no more than 36. For SSSCE, candidates must have six credits (A-D) in the three Core Subjects and three electives, making an aggregate of no more than 24.

Candidates with less than five credits may be enrolled into a Certificate programme. Such candidates would have to improve their WASSCE results to qualify for admission into a Degree programme.

2) Mature Students

Candidates must be at least 25 years old and must write and pass an entrance examination in English, Mathematics, IT and General Business. They may also be required to attend an interview.

3) Others

Applicants with GCE, ICGSE, GBCE, ABCE, Baccalaureate, Professional Courses (ICA, ACCA, CIM etc) and HND, among others may contact us for levels of placement
